What is a Guarantee of Origin (GO)?
Guarantees of Origin (GO), also known as Energy Attribute Certificates (EAC), are digital certificates that certify that the electricity you consume comes from renewable energy sources.
Every MWh of green electricity generated generates a GO, enabling companies to demonstrate their commitment to renewable energies and reducing their carbon footprint. So 1 GO (Guarantee of Origin) is equivalent to 1000 kWh of electricity consumed, or 1000 kWh of renewable energy fed into the grid.

GO electricity
When you subscribe to a green electricity offer, you have the right to request guarantees concerning the origin of the energy you consume. These guarantees take the form of certificates known as Guarantees of Origin. This electronic certificate, recognized at European level, is issued by the European Energy Exchange (EEX), the organization in charge of the national register of guarantees of origin, under the authority of the French Ministry of Ecological Transition. Guarantees of Origin certify that electricity has been produced from renewable sources (such as solar, hydro, wind or geothermal) before being fed into the grid.
A Guarantee of Origin is an electronic document certifying that electricity has been generated from a renewable energy source and fed into the electricity grid.
GO Biogas
A Guarantee of Origin (GO) is equivalent to one megawatt-hour (MWh) of biogas produced during a specific month, and contains all relevant information about the production facility.
Once produced, the biogas is injected into the grid, where it mixes with natural gas. Guarantees of origin ensure the traceability of injected biogas, meeting the needs of users wishing to consume more environmentally-friendly gas. Each MWh of biogas injected generates a guarantee of origin, identified by its place of production and the inputs used, giving users the certainty that the gas they consume actually corresponds to a quantity of biogas produced.
